Houston Astros Minor League Recap: May 12th

Two out of the three Houston Astros Minor League affiliates in action came away with a win, while the third got suspended for rain in the 10th inning, which I’m sure everyone was excited about.

The Hooks and the Missions are tied at 5 in the top of the 10th, and the game will be finished on the 13th, but I’ll let you know how they got to those five runs. Obie is back with the Redhawks and made his debut, as well as Chan Moon attempting a daring feat for the Quad City Bandits.

Triple-A: Oklahoma City Redhawks (21-18) Win 6-2

Brett Oberholtzer made his first start for the Redhawks this year and obsolutely dominated as we all hoped he would. The run support also showed up in the form of three home runs from super prospects Jon Singleton and Domingo Santana, as well as organizational piece, Gregorio Petit. Wilton Lopez also showed up for the Rockies AAA affiliate and pitched two innings but gave up two solo home runs to those mentioned above.

CF Domingo Santana – 2/4, HR(4)

1B Jon Singleton – 2/4, HR(12)

C Max Stassi – 1/4, 1 3B

SS Gregorio Petit – 2/4, 1 2B, HR(3)

Brett Oberholtzer – 7IP, 5H, BB, 9K, (102 pitches and 67 strikes)

Rhiner Cruz – 2IP, 2H, 2ER, 2BB, K

Double A: Corpus Christi Hooks (18-18) Postponed due to rain and tied at 5 in the 10th

We have a Telvin Nash appearance! And he is doing Telvin Nash things still. Going 2 for 4 with a HR and 2 strikeouts. Mike Hauschild had a fantastic start botched by the bullpen, because Astros, and overall the offense showed up as Deshields continues to have good at-bat after good at-bat

1B Telvin Nash – 2/4, HR(2), 2K

C Tyler Heineman – 2/4, 2B, K

RF Andrew Aplin – 2/5, 2K

CF Delino Deshields – 1/2, 2 BB, K

Mike Hauschild – 5IP, 1H, 3K

High A: Lancaster Jethawks – Day Off

Low A: Quad Cities River Bandits (18-18) Win 4-3

So the Bandits collected 5 stolen bases last night, and had 1 caught stealing. Chan Moon tried to steal home after stealing 2nd and 3rd but came up short unfortunately. It’s ok though because the River Bandits are finally at .500 and considering their struggles, thats pretty impressive. Michael Feliz had a much better start than usual and Jandel Gustave closed the game out with 4 scoreless innings of his own.

SS Jack Mayfield – 3/4, 2B, BB, E(6)

1B Conrad Gregor – 2/4, 2B, K

DH Brian Holberton 2/4, K

Michael Feliz – 3.1 IP, 2H, 1 ER, 6K

Jandel Gustave – 4IP, 2H, 4K
