A New Texans Team In Town

With the draft already done this team has a new feel to it. From the first pick to the last pick the Houston Texans added some much need depth and talent to an already talented team. What Rick Smith and Bill O’Brien did excellent. They came into this draft with a well executed plan and did exactly that, execute it. We picked up arguably the most talented player that has come out of college at his position in Jadaveon Clowney but it doesn’t stop there.

Many fans including myself thought they would select Louis Nix III with the 33rd pick at the top of the 2nd round. When they opted to select the top offensive guard in that spot, the fans were ok with it but didn’t realize that Nix was going to fall were he did. I feel Rick Smith did one hell of a job grabbing Nix in the latter of the 3rd round a still nabbing a top OG and a decent big TE.

Although many of us were wondering when and were the Texans would take a QB, we all knew at some point they would have to in the 4th round with the Texans not owning a 5th round pick after their trade up for Nix. When the Texans drafted Tom Savage, a big armed QB in the 4th round, I trusted that the Texans had their guy and that value. He may not be a starter right away, buI feel this Texans team is heading in the right direction.

More from Houston Texans

After this draft concluded, we added some great players with a lot of potential and players that will bring much needed depth at some positions. These guys are a little different than the norm for us Texans fans. These players are bigger, faster, and versatile. That’s something head coach Bill O’Brien has said a lot and I for one believe him. You can tell there is somewhat of a culture change and it is all business all the time with Bill O’Brien, which I for one like.

I believe the Texans are going to play well this season. I’m not saying we are going to the Super Bowl but I feel when this Texans team is on the field they will be prepared both physically and mentally for every game. I feel for once this Texans team will play big boy football and not back down to any team. I for one hope this new Texans culture changes what we saw last year from a pathetic 2-14 team. With as much talent as this new team has they should be a lot better than 2-14 for our sake.
