Houston Astros Activate Scott Feldman, Option Brett Oberholtzer

The Houston Astros announced several moves today, activating Scott Feldman from the disabled list, and sending down Brett Oberholtzer.

Oberholtzer, 24, had a 5.68 ERA in 38 innings this season. He struggled the last three starts allowing 28 hits and 16 runs in 14.1 innings. The move was interesting, and you have to wonder if Oberholtzer’s comments a week ago had anything to do with the demotion.

The Astros also announced they’ve recalled Paul Clemens to replace Jose Cisnero who has been placed on the disabled list. Clemens had a 4.73 ERA in 13.1 innings in his first stint in Houston. He’ll have a chance to earn a spot in the bullpen over the next two weeks.

Feldman will join Collin McHugh, Dallas Keuchel, Brad Peacock, and Jarred Cosart in the Astros rotation. He had a 1.69 ERA in four starts this season before going on the disabled list with biceps tendinitis.
