Houston Astros Minor League Recap: April 28th

Houston Astros Minor League Recap: April 28th. The three Astros affiliates that were in action went 2-1, and Mo Williams is still an asshole. My Houston sports tend to run over each other at times.

So someone was willing to actually trade for Lucas Harrell? Oh, it’s the Diamondbacks. I gotcha.

Kind of a fun day down on the farm as some of the high profile power hitters went yard, as well as our young lefty phenom continuing to dominate. Also the term Springleton was fun and fortunately discontinued with the call up of George Springer but what do we think of Singletana? Singleton and Domingo Santana have both been having strong seasons. OH! ANOTHER GOOD ONE WOULD BE TAKING THE TWO PLAYERS WITH THE HIGHEST AVERAGES, SO IT WOULD BE PETIT AND GROSSMAN WHICH WOULD MAKE GROSstit….hmmm. Yes. Moving on.

Triple-A Oklahoma City Redhawks (14-11) Win 4-1

The Redhawks faced off with former Astros’ affiliate Round Rock Express and despite the Express taking the early lead, came back to win it with an impressive power performance. Everyone in the lineup got a hit except for Jonathan Meyer who continues to adjust to the new level. Rudy Owens continues to pitch well and the bullpen threw together 5 innings of scoreless baseball. Those last 10 words took me a bit to write. I wasn’t sure how those words could possibly make sense next to each other.

CF Robbie Grossman – 2/4 1K (.325 avg)

2B Ronald Torreyes – 2/4 (.322 avg)

1B Jon Singleton – 1/3, BB, K, HR (9), (.304 avg)

LF Domingo Santana – 1/4, HR (3), (.300 avg)

C Carlos Perez – 2/4, K, (.240 avg)

Rudy Owens – 4IP, 6H, 1ER, 4K

Bullpen (Downs, Stoffel, Chapman, Zeid) – 5IP, 0R

Double-A Corpus Christi Hooks (14-10) Win 11-2

The Hooks jumped out to a 5-0 lead early, then skipped the fourth inning, then scored in every inning that followed as three Hooks homered included Preston Tucker’s 5th. Meanwhile that lefty phenom I was talking about, Luis Cruz, laid down a whipping.

RF Preston Tucker – 3/4, 2B, HR (5), (.296 avg)

SS Jiovanni Mier – 2/4, 2B, 2K, (.261 avg)

C Rene Garcia – 1/4, HR (2), (.196 avg)

2B Nolan Fontana – 0/4, 3K, BB, (.235 avg)

CF Andrew Aplin – 2/5, K, HR (1)

Luis Cruz – 4IP, 2H, 4K, (1.69 ERA in 26.2 innings)

Advanced A- Lancaster Jethawks (14-11) Loss 13-4

Lancaster faced off against one of the other heavy hitters in the Cal league, High Desert. Going into the 9th the Jethawks were down 6-2 which is barely a lead when you’re playing at the Hangar, but in the top High Desert put up 7 runs to put this one out reach. Lancaster only collected one extra base hit, on Tony Kemp‘s triple.

2B Tony Kemp – 2/5, 3B, K, (.310 avg)

CF Teoscar Hernandez – 1/4, BB, SB (8)

3B Rio Ruiz – 1/3, BB, 2K

1B Brandon Meredith – 2/4

Kyle Westwood – 4IP, 5H, 4ER, 3BB, K, HR. (8 of 10 outs put in play were ground outs)

Low A – Quad City River Bandits – RAINOUT

So in conclusion: Grosstit, Singletana, and Mo Williams is a dick.
