Houston Astros Minor League Recap: April 24th

There were only three teams in action for the Houston Astros Minor League system, and they finished with a 2-1 record on the night. We saw the RedHawks and Hooks win pretty easily, lead by two great pitching performances. We also saw the JetHawks bats with a rare silent performance, amassing just four hits in their shutout loss. They’ll be facing Clayton Kershaw on a rehab start tonight.

It’s also interesting to note that one starter went six innings tonight. That’s unusual considering the Astros are in a tandem-pitching rotation. It’s possible the “rules” have changed a bit, allowing starters who are dominating to go another inning. We’ll see if we here anything about the “extended” outing.

Oklahoma City RedHawks (13-8) won 6-1 (Box Score)

Corpus Christi Hooks (12-8) won 9-3 (Box Score)

Lancaster JetHawks (13-8) lost 6-0 (Box Score)

Quad Cities River Bandits (9-10) – Postponed (Rain)

Today’s Scheduled Starting Pitchers (according to team websites):

OKCJose Cisnero (2.45 ERA)

CCBrady Rodgers (1.61 ERA)

LCKyle Smith (2.37 ERA)

QC – Kent Emanuel (3.00 ERA)
