Houston Astros Minor League Recap: April 23rd

Andrew Thurman is starting to heat up (stats below)

Another day of Houston Astros Minor League baseball is in the books. The Astros lost on a walk-off HR earlier in the day so we can focus out attention on the minor league system and hope it brings us better joy. The Redhawks were off so unfortunately, we don’t get to talk about Singleton. With that said last year’s 2nd round pick, Andrew Thurman, has really got it going in his last three outings. Here are the numbers for the night.

AAA: Oklahoma City Redhawks (12-8) OFF

AA: Corpus Christi Hooks (11-8) lost 3-1 (Box Score)

Unfortunately there was not much hitting in this game for CC.  Nolan Fontana is on a 4 game hitting streak. Luis Cruz had a nice start but didn’t get any run support. Cruz now has a 1.99 ERA on the season.

A+: Lancaster Jethawks (13-7) lost 4-3 in 12 innings (Box Score

Lancaster tied the game 3-3 in the 6th but couldn’t score again. Carlos Correa is hitting .326 in his last 10 games, Rio Ruiz is hitting .356 in his last 10 games. Not what we want to hear but Appel has now given up 17 H, 9 ER in 13 IP this season.

A: Quad Cities River Bandits (9-10) won 7-1 (Box Score)

QC was able to really get the bats going hitting 7 XBHs. Chan Moon is now hitting .321.  Andrew Thurman with another good outing.  That is 13.1 IP, 9 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 18 SO, very nice to see.

Today’s Scheduled Starting Pitchers (according to team websites):

OKC - Mike Foltynewicz (7.20 ERA)

CC – Thomas Shirley (1.56 ERA)

QC – Kent Emanuel (3.00 ERA)
