The Houston sports landscape will forever change on April 12, 2014 when the Houston Dash play their first regular season game ever. Another set of hometown heroes will put on a uniform and defend our city’s pride. However, for only the second time in history, it won’t be a set of male heroes, but one composed of women. I can list a million reasons why that fact alone is important but fellow House of Houston staff writer Hal Kaiser already did a great job at it. If you haven’t already purchased tickets, I suggest you go purchase some as quickly as possible, since there are only around 1000 tickets remaining, so you can be a part of history.

It is a difficult task to start following a new team. Sometimes it may even be difficult to become emotionally invested in a team that has no “superstars” or well-known, mainstream players. However, I’m going to help you become invested in the team by spotlighting three players that will play a pivotal role in the Houston Dash’s inaugural season and have an interesting history.

Great stuff, Leo. This truly is a historic event, and it’s incredible that in such short time, with the unwavering support of the Dynamo FO and current Dynamo STH and of course, the rest of Houston that we have a professional women’s soccer team. And a damn good one at that, with very talented players and – in true Houston style – good people. Dash On!

Thanks for reading the article. It means a lot that somebody is willing to spend their valuable time on me.

It is such an amazing event to be a part of, and especially for those of us that have seen the Dynamo grow. We fought to make the Dynamo a staple in the Houston sports scene, and now we get to see them be successful enough to spend their money on another team! No other team in Houston can say that they own another professional sports team!
