Houston Astros Minor League Recap: April 9th

The Houston Astros farm system had the Oklahoma City Redhawks, Lancaster Jethawks, and Quad Cities River Bandits all in action. Corpus Christi Hooks had the night off. Oh and Anthony Kemp had a huge night!


AAA: Oklahoma City Redhawks (5-2) won 3-2 (Box Score)

Oklahoma City Redhawks beat New Orleans Zephyrs 3-2. OKC got out to a 1-0 in the first inning with a solo homerun from catcher Max Stassi, his 2nd of the season. New Orleans re-took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the 4th inning, 2-1. In the top of the ninth Stassi walked, Castro walked and Meyer walked to load the bases. Ronald Torreyes then hit a two run single to give OKC a 3-2 lead. Nicholas Tropeano came away with the win with a nice relief outing and Jason Stoffel had a prefect ninth for the save.

The Lancaster Jethawks had a great offensive showing tonight with huge games all around. A six- run 6th inning really sealed the game. In this inning Anthony Kemp hit a grand slam and then Teoscar Hernandez hit a solo HR to go back-to-back. Lancaster also got some good pitching performances. Unfortunately, Carlos Correa went hitless.

The Quad Cities River Bandits lost their game today against the Lansing Lugnuts 6-4. QC got off to a 2-0 start with a two-run double from Tyler White in the first inning. Unfortunately they got a bad pitching performance from Jandel GustaveKent Emanuel came in relief and pitched well but it was not enough.
