Preview: Houston Rockets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder

The Houston Rockets enter tonight’s game with a three game losing streak as they face the #2 seeded Oklahoma City Thunder. The Rockets are coming off a 4-point loss to the Raptors on Wednesday night, whereas the Thunder are coming off a 12-point win just last night against the Spurs. The Rockets are 0-3 against the Thunder this season, losing to them by eight points the last time out. Both team’s will be without key players which should make this game quite interesting. Tonight’s game is scheduled for 8:30 PM and can be seen on ESPN.

Point Guard – Jeremy Lin vs. Reggie Jackson

Jackson is certainly capable of providing a big lift for the Thunder and it wouldn’t shock me to see him drop 20 on Lin tonight. The Rockets are going to need a big game from Lin tonight, both offensively and defensively.

Edge – Rockets

Shooting Guard – James Harden vs. Andre Roberson

Ummm…Roberson? Harden is averaging 25.1 ppg and Roberson is averaging 1.9 ppg. Expect Butler/Fisher to see playing time here.

Edge – Rockets

Small Forward – Chandler Parsons vs. Kevin Durant

MVP! MVP! MVP! No, I’m not talking about Parsons.

Edge: Thunder

Power Forward – Terrence Jones vs. Serge Ibaka

Ibaka is averaging close to 15 and 9 this season and fits the role of the “third option” perfectly for the Thunder.

Edge – Rockets

Center – Omer Asik vs. Steven Adams

I had such a great writeup ready to rip on Perkins, so imagine the feeling I had when I found out he was sitting. The Thunder definitely get more from Adams than they do from Perkins.

Edge – Rockets

Houston Rockets – Donatas MotiejunasOmri CasspiIsaiah CanaanFrancisco Garcia, and Jordan Hamilton

Oklahoma City Thunder – Caron Butler, Nick Collison, Derek Fisher, Jeremy Lamb

Edge – Thunder

Houston Rockets – Patrick Beverley (OUT) Dwight Howard (OUT) Greg Smith (OUT), Terrence Jones (GTD)

Oklahoma City Thunder – Russell Westbrook (OUT), Kendrick Perkins (OUT), Thabo Sefolosha (OUT)

The Rockets need this one badly and should benefit from getting the Thunder in Houston and on a second game of a back-to-back. Rockets 103-98.
