Preview: Houston Rockets At Toronto Raptors

Andrew Richardson-USA TODAY Sports

The Houston Rockets enter tonight’s game having lost two straight, including last night’s loss to the Brooklyn Nets. The Toronto Raptors are coming off a 10-point loss to the Miami Heat a few nights ago. The Rockets are 1-0 against the Raptors this season, defeating them in a very intense double overtime game. Tonight’s game is scheduled for 6:00 PM and can be seen on CSN Houston.

Matchups

Point Guard – Jeremy Lin vs. Kyle Lowry

Lowry is the only starter and player on the Raptors to start and play in all 74 games. He’s averaging 17.4 ppg, 4.8 rpg, and 7.6 apg this season. An All-Star in my heart.

Edge – Raptors

Shooting Guard – James Harden vs. DeMar DeRozan

DeRozan is still a very underrated player in this league and is averaging 22.7 ppg this season. It’s a very tough matchup for Harden who struggled defensively last night.

Edge – Rockets

Small Forward – Chandler Parsons vs. Terrence Ross

Parsons has been stepping it up as of late and is averaging 20 points per game in his last three contests.

Edge: Rockets

Power Forward – Terrence Jones vs. Amir Johnson

No word on if Jones will play. He sat out last night’s loss to the Nets but may feel the need to play tonight. Johnson averages a very solid 10.8 ppg and 6.8 rpg.

Edge – Rockets

Center – Omer Asik vs. Jonas Valanciunas

Asik is coming off a glass-cleaning game of 12 points and 23 rebounds. Wouldn’t shock me to see another 20 boards from the big man tonight.

Edge – Rockets

Bench
Houston Rockets – Donatas Motiejunas, Omri Casspi, Isaiah Canaan, Francisco Garcia, and Jordan Hamilton

Toronto Raptors – Patrick Patterson, Steve Novak, Greivis Vasquez, Chuck Hayes, Nando De Colo, John Salmons

Edge – Raptors

Injuries
Houston Rockets – Patrick Beverley (OUT) Dwight Howard (OUT) Greg Smith (OUT), Terrence Jones (GTD)

Toronto Raptors – Kyle Lowry (DTD)

Prediction
Should be a close one but one the Rockets need to win. Rockets 101-99.
