Houston Texans To Trade Matt Schaub To Oakland; Deal Not Yet Official

Earlier this morning, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that the Houston Texans and Oakland Raiders are close on a deal that would send Matt Schaub to Oakland.

The Texans will receive a pick in the 5th-7th round of this year’s NFL Draft. Matt Schaub is headed to Oakland now to take a physical. Once he passes the physical (you never know these days), the deal will then be official.

Schaub, who has a $14.5 million salary-cap figure and a $10 million base salary for 2014, became expendable when the Texans signed former Tennessee Titansquarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to a two-year deal Thursday night.

The Texans wanted a veteran QB on their roster and once the Texans signed Ryan Fitzpatrick yesterday, it allowed the Texans to finally move on from Schaub.
