Houston Texans Sign NT Jerrell Powe

Dave Zangaro of CSN Houston was the first to report the signing.

Powe, 27 (just had his birthday a few days ago), was a 6th round pick in the 2011 Draft. He has appeared in 11 games over three seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, recording eight tackles and one sack according to

Powe was drafted by new Texans defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel when he was the coach of the Chiefs. Listed as 6-2 and around 330 pounds, Powe is considered a good fit in the new scheme, and is currently the only option at NT. The Texans needed help on the defensive line, and specifically at nose tackle, with the loss of Earl Mitchell, Antonio Smith, and Terrell McClain this offseason.

It’s not the “Poe” the Texans would have preferred from the Chiefs but I guess this works for now.
