Rumors: Texans Named Potential Landing Spot For DeMarcus Ware, Brandon Pettigrew, And Others

The Houston Texans have yet to make a big splash in free agency. There are still several big names available and the Texans have been named a potential landing spot for a few of them.

Greg A. Bedard of MMQB says the Texans could be a potential landing spot for DeMarcus Ware.

It appeared that some of Ware’s issues had to do with the conversion from 3-4 outside linebacker to a 4-3 end. The transition is not as easy as one would think, especially for a player who had spent eight seasons training his body to be a standup linebacker. Ware should find himself a landing spot that allows him to get back to standing up full-time on the outside. Among the teams that could give him that opportunity: the Falcons, Jets, Browns, Texans, Saints and Chargers. Ware, at his age, is a starter who needs some relief but is still better than being just a role player, at least for a couple more years.

He later made sure to say that there isn’t necessarilly interest between the two parties, rather it would just make sense.

Eric Decker could fit in Houston according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

I personally don’t believe a Decker-Texans partnership would make any sense. He’s a product of Peyton Manning, would cost way too much, plus the Texans don’t really need a receiver that badly. According to Michael Silver of NFL.com the Texans may also be a fit for Brandon Pettigrew.

After releasing Owen Daniels yesterday and Garrett Graham remaining unsigned, the Texans could likely use another tight end and Pettigrew is a nice big target for the next Texans QB. A deal between the two parties could make sense if the money is right.

Let’s move on to the Bryan Braman, the mushroom growing, special teams player that made headlines for tackling a player, while not wearing a helmet.

Remember when it was reported that the Texans were interested in Chris Williams? Well, that’s not going to happen.

But hey, Derek Newton is still on the team, right?
