Report: Houston Texans Interested In Michael Vick

After coming across the Matt Cassel rumor yesterday, I came across a new name earlier this morning.

Yes. THAT Michael Vick.

Give me a minute to swallow…

Well. I’m actually not that upset. As a matter of fact, I kind of like the idea. Hear me out.

The Houston Texans finished the season at 2-14 and now have the first overall pick. Teddy Bridgewater, Johnny Manziel, Blake Bortles. Any of those scream first overall pick? There isn’t one unanimous choice.

Manziel would bring much excitement to the team but he is a bit of a risk according to many. Bortles could become the next big star though he could easily become the next Blaine Gabbert. Bridgewater seems to be the safest choice, but will the Texans take a “safe” pick at #1?

There is another player, however, that many people believe is the best player available. That would be none other than Jadeveon Clowney. The Texans have a need for another pass rusher and pairing Clowney with J.J. Watt could do wonders for the Texans pass rush.

So if the Texans wanted to sign Michael Vick, I could certainly get behind it. Sign Vick, draft Clowney, draft a 2nd round quarterback, and there you go. Vick can still be the exciting playmaker the Texans are seeking but obviously there’s a question about his durability.

I don’t think a deal would happen between the two parties, but it would certainly be exciting to see Vick behind center in a “Liberty White” jersey.

Our other editor, Marcus Chavez, had this to say about a potential pairing: “The Texans being interested in Michael Vick shows how much Rick Smith loves players from the ACC. Don’t think that there’s a chance in hell he signs with the team.”

So what do you think Texans fans? Would you like to see Vick in a Texans jersey next season? Sound off in the comments below.
