Early Houston Astros Regular Season Record Predictions

The Houston Astros will officially play in their first Spring Training in close to 24 hours from now against the Atlanta Braves. With that in mind, we asked our @HouseOfHouston followers for their predictions on the Astros record this season.

It started with this tweet:

The Predictions

My Thoughts

The 2013 Astros finished with a 51-111 record, the worst record in franchise history. GM Jeff Luhnow and the rest of the front office set out to make things better, and hopefully make a big jump this coming season.

Our buddies at Bovada put the over under on wins for the Astros this season at 62.5. Looking at the tweets above, all Astros fans believe they will reach that point and some even think they’ll reach the 70′s.

At this point, I’m not quite ready to put the Astros in the 70-win range. I think 65 is fair. As Milton Grammer (tweet above) pointed out, the AL West got better which could hurt the Astros, even though the Astros improved themselves. The Astros finished with a 9-10 record against the Mariners which will likely be a little worse this coming season. The same can be said for the Astros 10-9 record against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

The Astros will be better and should pick up at least 10 extra wins, but will they finish the season out of the cellar?
