Chris Crawford is the founder of MLB Draft Insider and usually does a great job interacting with fans. Over the last few days, Crawford put out his top 100 prospects list which included six different Astros.

After the list came out, I and others tweeted Crawford for some quick insights.

On Singleton…

On DeShields…

Quick Thoughts

Opinions clearly differ on Delino DeShields. Crawford has ranked him the highest of any prospect evaluator up-to-date, with his previous highest ranking (66) coming from Jonathan Mayo ( While they have DeShields in their top 100, some evaluators don’t even have DeShields in their top 10 Astros prospects. DeShield’s skill set would easily put him within the top 100 prospects of baseball, but there are many out there that don’t believe he will put it all together.

Crawford also ranked Foltynewicz lower than any other evaluator. I have yet to ask him why, but I’m sure he will explain his thoughts once he releases his top 14 Astros prospects.

We expect a few more lists to come out both this month and in March. Stay tuned!
