Houston Rockets Power Rankings Update Through Week 11

The Houston Rockets went 2-1 for the week (Monday-Sunday), beating the Wizards and Celtics while losing to the Hawks. This week’s average rank for these publications is 8.8, while last week it was 8.3. Since these power rankings come out throughout the day on Monday, our national power rankings post will come out early Tuesday every week.

Note: National power rankings don’t take into account any of Monday’s NBA action

Maybe this will be the week that the Rockets dodge an injury curveball after Chandler Parsons was unexpectedly forced to miss three games with a sore knee last week. Another problem in Houston: At a mere 13-11 against the rest of the West, they’re living off an 11-2 record against the East.

They’ll make the playoffs, they might win a round, James Harden will shoot a lot of free throws and not defend anyone, we know how this goes.

Yahoo Sports (Marc J. Spears)

Ranked – 8 | Last Week – 7

Forward Chandler Parsons has missed three straight games with a sore knee, but worked out Sunday and is expected to play Monday at Boston.

Houston (24-14)
Pace: 98.0 (8), OffRtg: 107.4 (4), DefRtg: 102.4 (13), NetRtg: +5.0 (7)
Since a 2-for-9 stinker in Oklahoma City on Dec. 29, James Harden has averaged32.6 points on 51 percent shooting over the last five games. He gets another shot at the Thunder on Thursday, but it will be the second night of a back-to-back again. Harden’s 3-point percentage has dipped, even though a greater percentage of his threes have come off the catch (57 percent) than they did last season (42 percent).

Injury risk? Dwight Howard is the only Rocket to play every game.

It’s still hard to get a feel for just how good this team really is — some nights they look elite, then there are games like Friday against the Hawks. The real number that might concern me as a Rockets fan — they are just 13-11 against the West.
