16 Weeks Until The NFL Draft; Which QB Do You Want The Houston Texans Draft?

Every Monday as we head towards the NFL Draft, we will have a poll to see which QB you want the Houston Texans to select in May’s NFL Draft. We’ll bring you the latest articles, videos, and mock drafts regarding each QB prospect as we come closer to the Texans first overall selection.

Mock Drafts

  • Chris Burke (Sports Illustrated) has the Texans taking Teddy Bridgewater.

The pre-draft process can feel rather interminable, so most prominent prospects trek through ebbs and flows in their hype. Right now, Bridgewater’s in a bit of a lull. Blame it on Louisville playing an early bowl game or focus falling on Blake Bortles and Johnny Manziel. Whatever the reason, Bridgewater has slipped out of the spotlight a bit.

  • Dane Brugler (CBS Sports) has the Texans taking Blake Bortles.

Losing the final 14 games of last season, the Texans deserve this top spot. But despite the forgettable season, Houston isn’t a complete re-build and new head coach Bill O’Brien inherits a roster that only needs a few tweaks. If the Texans keep this pick, it would be a surprise if they went in any other direction but quarterback and while Teddy Bridgewater seems to be the favorite, don’t count out Bortles here.

  • Matt Miller (Bleacher Report) has the Texans taking Teddy Bridgewater.

Neither Matt Schaub nor Case Keenum is the long-term answer here, and with the first overall pick in the draft, it’s wise for general manager Rick Smith to find his guy at the position. Heading into the pre-draft months, no player looks more like a franchise quarterback than Teddy Bridgewater.

you know what. from experience the texans are not going to get a QB and not only that but they will pick up some random guy no one heard of

That’d be so Texans of them…

I like the idea of the texans either taking Clowney w/ the #1 pick and trade just one of their late rd pick (3,4,or 5) for Ryan Mallet. Scenario 2: trade their #1 draft pick for more early rd picks (1, 2 and/or 3) and try and get Anthony Barr or an OLB and trade # 4 or late rd pick for Ryan Mallet and draft a QB in the 3rd rd if there is a good option avaliable for QB competition. This way they can be flexible w/ their 2nd rd pick and address the secondary.
    Just my opinion tho.

Trading is always the “more fun”approach and will definitely help with depth. Ryan Mallet is a popular name due to O’Brien and it shouldn’t surprise anyone if that’s the direction the Texans go. Personally, I’d prefer to draft a QB then ride Mallet.
