Houston Texans Power Rankings Update Through Fifteen Weeks

Just one writer continues to put the Texans at 31 instead of 32. The average rank of the Texans for these publications this week is 31.86, the same as it was last week. Here are each major publication’s Texans ranking in their respective power rankings.

Houston has had a tough run of late, facing the Colts and Patriots in two of the last three games. Denver won’t be easier, as a best-case scenario of 3-13 looms. (Elliot Harrison)

Another ugly loss by the Texans, marked by an absolutely abysmal passing game that could neither protect the quarterback nor get any bang for the buck when Case Keenum let fly. Houston “racked up” 132 net yards passing in a dismal performance at Indy. The Texans also racked up 114 penalty yards. What’s next for this group? The No. 1 pick. Interim coach Wade Phillipsadmitted last week that he’s “up to (his) rear in alligators.” That, and the Loch Ness Monster, and the slimy thing squirming around in the trash compactor in “Star Wars.”

Barring an upset of Denver or a win at Tennessee, the Texans would carry a 14-game losing streak into next season. That’s bad, sure, but they’d still be an 0-12 start to 2014 away from tying the record of 26 straight defeats set by the 1976-77 Buccaneers.

Is there any doubt now they need to get a quarterback? The answer isn’t on their roster.

They’re leaving absolutely no doubt about who is drafting first next year.

Only two more weeks, Texans fans.

What do you think of these rankings? Texans too high on some? Too low?
