Twitter Reactions To The Houston Astros/Colorado Rockies Trade

It seemed like the Oakland Athletics would rule the day with the multiple trades they made earlier today but that wasn’t the case. Jeff Luhnow miraculously pulled off a trade without a SINGLE rumor of a Fowler-Astros connection.

Dexter Fowler, Jordan Lyles, and Brandon Barnes were all shocked to hear they’d be switching teams.

In a conference call with the Houston media, Fowler said, “I’m very excited for the opportunity, but it’s bittersweet.” Fowler was very surprised but expressed excitement saying, “I try to go out all the time and play as hard as I can and just win. That’s what I’m excited about most.”

Both Lyles and Barnes were blindsided by the deal but Barnes seemed ready to head to a new team. “It’s a new chapter. I don’t know if it’s a fresh start, but it’s something different.” Lyles thanked the Astros organization and believes Houston didn’t rush him to the majors.

The quotes came out quickly right after the trade as did the media’s reactions. The national media were all in favor of the Astros, though some aren’t as high on Fowler as others.
