Preview: Houston Rockets v.s. Minnesota Timberwolves

The Rockets are coming off a tough loss on the road against the Mavericks, and have had another two days off leading to their matchup tonight against the Timberwolves. The Timberwolves blew out the Nets last night, and came into Houston in the early AM hours. Tonight’s game is at 7:00 PM and can be seen on both CSN Houston and NBA TV.

The Matchups

Point Guard: Patrick Beverley v.s. Ricky Rubio

Rubio has struggled from the field (35%) this season but has been hitting the three at a 46% rate. Rubio’s 8+ assists a game and nearly 3 steals a game are some of the top numbers in the game.

Edge: Timberwolves

Shooting Guard: James Harden v.s. Kevin Martin

The Rockets know Kevin Martin’s game and he’s bound to hurt a team that has struggled with their perimeter defense. Martin is one of the best cutters in the game and Harden will have his hands full with Martin.

Edge: Rockets

Small Forward: Chandler Parsons v.s. Corey Brewer

Parsons has been one of the best Rockets players this season even though he’s shooting just 31% from the three point line.

Edge: Rockets

Power Forward: Terrence Jones v.s. Kevin Love

Jones goes from guarding Dirk Nowitzki to Kevin Love. A tough task to ask from a player who just received his first meaningful minutes a few weeks ago.

Edge: Timberwolves

Center: Dwight Howard v.s. Nikola Pekovic

Pekovic is a very underrated center, averaging 14+ ppg and 8.5 rpg. Howard should be able to outmuscle the big man, but this should be a good matchup in the post.

Edge: Rockets

Timberwolves – Jose Barea, Dante Cunningham, Derrick Williams, Robbie Hummel, Alexey Shved

Rockets – Omer Asik, Jeremy Lin Francisco GarciaOmri CasspiAaron BrooksDonatas Motiejunas

Asik is back in the rotation and will see time against Pekovic.

Edge: Rockets

Prediction – This should be a very good game. Rockets 107-105.
