Preview: Houston Rockets At New York Knicks

The Houston Rockets (5-4) are coming off a tough OT loss against the 76’ers last night, and now face the 3-4 New York Knicks. The Knicks are also on the second leg of a back-to-back after defeating the Hawks last night. Tonight’s game is at 7:00 PM and can be seen on TNT.

The Matchups

Point Guard: Patrick Beverley v.s. Raymond Felton

I have always been a Felton “denier” never believing he was anything better than an average point guard at best. Felton struggles mightily shooting from the floor and it’s showing again this season with his 38% shooting.

Edge: Rockets

Shooting Guard: James Harden v.s. Iman Shumpert

Harden sat out last night’s loss with a foot injury but should be ready to go. Shumpert’s name has been floated around in trade rumors lately. Shumpert is a great defensive player and could be able to slow down a banged-up Harden.

Edge: Rockets

Small Forward: Chandler Parsons v.s. J.R. Smith

Parsons has been battling a back injury and will go up against Smith who has played in just two games this season. Smith is just 5-19 to start the season but is capable of scoring many points in bunches.

Edge: Rockets

Power Forward: Terrence Jones v.s. Carmelo Anthony

Like Felton, I’ve always thought Anthony is one of the most overrated players in the NBA today. Anthony is averaging 23/8 at the PF position this season but is only shooting 40%. The Rockets don’t play defense so Anthony is more than capable of a big game tonight.

Edge: Knicks

Center: Dwight Howard v.s. Andrea Bargnani

“If Dwight Howard doesn’t put up 25/20 against Bargnani then he’s a disgrace.” That’s what a friend of mine (Knicks fan) told me earlier today. Bargnani is a poor defender, but could help draw Howard out on the offensive end.

Edge: Rockets

Bench (players that average over 10+ minutes a game):

Knicks – Kenyon Martin, Pablo Prigioni, Tim Hardaway Jr., Metta World Peace, Amar’e Stoudemire

Rockets – Omer AsikFrancisco GarciaOmri CasspiJeremy Lin

Lin has been on fire lately and will be firing away in his return to MSG.

Edge: Rockets

Prediction – The Rockets are coming off a loss but Harden will be back tonight. Rockets 110-93.
