Week 10 – Texans At Cardinals: What To Watch For?

Six straight losses for the Houston Texans and the bad news keeps coming. Earlier this morning it was reported that Arian Foster is out for the season with a back injury. The team will now be without it’s star running backs for today’s matchup against the Cardinals. Let’s take a look at what to watch for in today’s Texans – Cardinals game.

  • Andre Johnson/Patrick Peterson - Johnson’s 229 yard, 3 touchdown game was Johnson’s best performance in a Texans uniform in his career. Today, Johnson matches up with Pro-Bowl CB Patrick Peterson in the biggest key matchup between the two teams. Case Keenum has locked into Johnson in his first two starts so we’ll see how he fares today throwing it to his stud receiver.
  • Randy Bullock – Bullock is coming off another terrible performance, missing three key field goals against the Colts. The Texans brought in three kickers to compete with Bullock this week but chose to stick with Bullock’s leg. If Bullock struggles today, it could cost him his job.
  • Running Backs - The Texans have played two straight games with Foster leaving after the first series. With Foster out for the season, it’s now Ben Tate‘s turn to carry the load for the Texans. Tate is not 100 percent as he’s still playing with four cracked ribs. Dennis Johnson will likely spell Tate this game and expect Deji Karim to be the team’s third running back.
  • Pressure On Palmer - When I look at Carson Palmer I can’t help but think of Matt Schaub at times. If the Texans could put pressure on Palmer all game, it should force some bad throws from Palmer and help create turnovers for a struggling Texans defense. J.J. Watt, Whitney Mercilus, and Antonio Smith have a chance to bump up their numbers, and heck, maybe even Brooks Reed will record a sack?!?
