Preview: Houston Rockets At Portland Trail Blazers

After a brutal loss to the Clippers last night, the Rockets are back at it for their 5th game in seven nights. The Rockets are in Portland tonight to face the 2-1 Trail Blazers. Tonight’s game is at 9:00 PM and can be seen on CSN Houston.

The Matchups

Point Guard: Jeremy Lin v.s. Damian Lillard

Two straight games where the Rockets face great point guards and could use the services of Patrick Beverley. Instead, it will be Lin who will try for consecutive nights to try and stop on of the best guards in the West. Lillard’s averaging 25/5/5 through three games and should be able to replicate those numbers tonight.

Edge: Trail Blazers

Shooting Guard: James Harden v.s. Wesley Matthews

Harden had arguably one of the worst games he’s had in a Rockets uniform shooting 6-16 (0-7 from three) for 15 points. Harden’s efforts on both ends were terrible, and they’ll need him to actually attempt to play some defense on an underrated Matthews.

Edge: Rockets

Small Forward: Chandler Parsons v.s. Nicolas Batum

Batum has averaged 13/10/6 this season and is capable of putting up a triple double on any night. With Beverley out, Parsons is the only Rockets player capable of playing some peremiter defense which will be needed to against both Batum and Matthews

Edge: Trail Blazers

Power Forward: Dwight Howard v.s. LaMarcus Aldridge

Everyone’s favorite target in a Rockets trade, Aldridge continues to show he’d be a great fit in this Rockets offense. Aldridge has averaged over 25 ppg and will force Howard to come out on him on the offensive side.

Edge: Rockets

Center: Omer Asik v.s. Robin Lopez

Lopez’s numbers (5/4) aren’t quite there this season but he’s a better player than those numbers.

Edge: Rockets

Bench (players that average over 8+minutes a game):

Trail Blazers – Mo Williams, Joel Freeland, Dorell Wright, Thomas Robinson

Rockets – Francisco GarciaOmri CasspiAaron Brooks

The Rockets bench should win this battle.

Edge: Rockets

Prediction – Even though the Rockets are banged up and tired, I’ve got them winning 104-97
