James Harden And Patrick Beverley Injury Updates

Rockets guards took a bit of a beating in their 96-83 opening night victory over the Charlotte Bobcats. Patrick Beverley, James Harden, and even Jeremy Lin had to leave the court due to injuries during the game. Aaron Brooks was forced into action and was a surprisingly +10 on the court even with his 0 points, 2 turnovers, and 3 fouls in 11 minutes of play.

James Harden’s night was subpar for his standards due to his injuries. Harden suffered a lower-back injury and also had wrist problems. Those injuries to go along with his hurt knee from the preseason could not have have given him a good night’s sleep. Harden struggled shooting the ball all night and his wrist injury is likely the big factor. The All-Star scored 21 points on 7-16 shooting and their will be better days ahead. Harden is expected to suit up against the Mavericks though his minutes may be a bit limited with the Rockets facing four teams within the next five nights.

Patrick Beverley only played 10 minutes before leaving the game with a rib injury. Beverley says he pulled a muscle under his rib which caused him to miss all of the second half. Beverley finished with just 5 points, 1 assist, 1 rebound, and 2 turnovers in his limited play. Beverley tweeted this after the game;

Jeremy Lin had a great night even with a bloody chin and all. Lin had to leave the court for a few minutes to get his chin cleaned up and went on to finish the game for the Rockets. Lin would come up big down the stretch scoring 16 points and was key down the stretch. Lin is expected to be fine and play in Friday’s game against the Mavericks.

All three guards should all suit against the Mavericks on Friday night. Expect both Beverley and Harden to have their minutes limited in their stretch of four games in five nights. Aaron Brooks may see more playing time and it’s possible the Rockets choose to active Isaiah Canaan for a game or two if they feel Beverley may be even more limited.
