Potential pitching options | Harden’s knee feeling better | Texans situation after the bye week

Houston Astros

  • Greg Thurston (Climbing Tals Hill) takes a look at potential free agent starting pitchers for the Astros.

When either the Cardinals or Red Sox hoist the World Series trophy high overhead and another season comes to a close, the MLB Free Agent period will officially begin. Jim Crane has already gone on record saying the Astros will be spending some money this winter. I’m not quite ready to buy into the “50 to 60 million dollar payroll” figure. But, I am hoping the Astros try to do something to address their many weaknesses.

Houston Rockets

  • Jenny Dial Creech (Houston Chronicle) says Harden’s knee is doing better.

James Harden gave his team and the fans a scare on Friday night, when he banged up his knee during a preseason game in Memphis. Memphis’ Quincy Pondexter ran into Harden while he was shooting a 3-pointer. Harden’s injury was luckily just a bruise.

Houston Texans

In a three-week span early in the 2002 season, the New York Jets lost games by 37, 27 and 25 points, prompting coach Herm Edwards to bench Vinny Testaverde, his creaky 39-year-old quarterback, and replace him with Chad Pennington.
