Quick Takeaways From The Rockets 2nd Preseason Game

How about that 6:30 AM start for a preseason game? If you’re really into the preseason games or just want another look at how good these Rockets could play, then this morning was your chance to show how hardcore of a Rockets fan you are to all your friends and family. Let’s take a look at the Rockets 20-point victory against the Pacers.

James Harden led the Rockets in scoring with 21 points. He also chipped in with 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals and just two turnovers. Chandler Parsons quietly scored 15 points in just under 30 minutes of play. The Rockets started Patrick Beverley today and he played very well scoring 12 points and dishing out 4 assists with just 1 turnover. Jeremy Lin came off the bench and also played well scoring 14 points with 6 rebounds and 5 assists in just over 23 minutes of play. Lin was aggressive going to the hoop against the Pacers and shot a perfect 8-8 from the line. Lin is expected to start in Taiwan on Saturday night.

The bench has been both on and off through two games this preseason. Donatas Motiejunas seemed to hurt himself early in the game but he returned and scored 16 points. Omri Casspi continues his hot preseason as he recorded a double-double (17/10). Aaron Brooks scored 5 points in over 17 minutes before fouling out of the game. Rookies Robert Covington and Isaiah Canaan were scoreless in each of there three minutes of play.

Dwight Howard looked really good this morning. Though he only scored 9 points and had 3 rebounds, Howard shut down Roy Hibbert and the Pacers struggled to score when he was in the game. Howard himself got in foul trouble (5) but his defensive presence was a key to the Rockets win.

The Rockets and Pacers now head to Taiwan to play against each other  again. Tip off is scheduled for 12:30 AM CT on Saturday night/Sunday morning.
